Osteopathy is recognized by the British Medical Association as a successful treatment and gained Primary Healthcare Status in 1993. The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence to the NHS recommend and widely use osteopathy for the successful treatment of low back pain.
Osteopathy coordinates all systems of the body connected to and controlled by the structure of the spine, giving relief to all areas of the body including head, neck, shoulder, back, ribcage, arm, leg and pelvis. Treatment is can involve - gentle neuromuscular massage, joint mobilization and corrective manipulation. Aligning the body towards a position of optimal health they can produce positive and long lasting effects, from pain and unease.
Osteopaths undergo thorough training and are required to continue developing their knowledge base throughout their career. They have in depth understanding of anatomy, physiology and biomechanics. Using their hands they investigate, diagnose and treat injuries to nerves, muscles, ligaments, tendons, joints, discs, bone, cartilage and connective tissue (fascia). The osteopath can give advise on preventative exercises and posture better enabling you to get on with everyday living.
