Osteopathy
Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of medical conditions. It works with the structure and function of the body, and is based on the principle that the well-being of an individual depends on the skeleton, muscles, ligaments and connective tissues functioning smoothly together.

Osteopaths use touch, physical manipulation, stretching and massage to increase the mobility of joints, to relieve muscle tension, to enhance the blood and nerve supply to tissues, and to help your body's own healing mechanisms. We may also provide advice on posture and exercise to aid recovery, promote health and prevent symptoms recurring.

Dry needling (or 'trigger point' acupuncture)
When a muscle is injured, 'micro-cramps' may develop. Although the outward appearance of the muscle is the same, these tiny spasms prevent the muscle relaxing fully. The muscle is effectively shortened. When the muscle is stretched pain occurs. Sometimes the micro-cramps are so intense that there is a continuous ache.

In the technique known as dry-needling, an acupuncture needle is inserted though the skin and moved gently backwards and forwards through the trigger point. The effect is to de-activate the trigger point and relax the muscle.

Sports injury and deep tissue massage
The prime purpose of sports massage therapy is to help alleviate the stress and tension which builds up in the body's soft tissues during physical activity. Where minor injuries and lesions occur, due to over exertion and/or overuse, massage can break them down quickly and effectively. Above all, it can help prevent those niggling injuries that so often get in the way of performance and achievement, whether one is an athlete, ardent keep-fitter or a once a week jogger.

Deep Tissue Massage is a technique that focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. It aims to release the chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on the contracted areas, either following or going across the fibres of the muscles, tendons and fascia. Also helps to break up and eliminate scar tissue.
